On February 5, 2025, the Malaysia-Uzbekistan Business Forum took place in Kuala Lumpur, attended by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim. The event gathered more than 300 representatives from leading companies and financial institutions of both countries, including Petronas, Proton, MMC Corporation, DRB-Hicom, Five Petroleum, and others.
During the forum, participants presented Uzbekistan’s investment environment and the opportunities available for investors across various industries. Experts delivered special presentations on agriculture, renewable energy, hydropower, chemical industries, manufacturing, and trade. They provided detailed insights into the Uzbek government’s initiatives to create favorable conditions for foreign investors, including tax and customs benefits, special economic zones, and prospects for implementing advanced technologies.
One of the key highlights of the forum was the signing of bilateral agreements. These agreements cover projects in agriculture (introducing modern technologies and increasing productivity), renewable energy, trade, the oil and gas sector, and several other industries. Notably,
· A cooperation agreement between Malaysia’s Lifestyle Essentials and the Fergana Region Administration for solar panel production;
· A trade partnership agreement between MYDIN and Havas Holding;
· A Memorandum of Understanding between AKFA ETRUSIONS and United Hydraulic Sdn Bhd;
· A cooperation agreement between Five Petroleum Malaysia and Uzbekneftegaz in the oil and gas sector;
· A project on cellulose production between Nextgreen Global Berhad and Global Textile.
The forum also hosted G2B and B2B meetings. Investment Promotion Agency of Uzbekistan set up a special G2B consultation stand, where Malaysian business representatives received individual consultations on all aspects of doing business in Uzbekistan.
