On April 29, the First Forum of Regions of the CIS Member States was held in Tashkent, initiated by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The forum brought together delegations from CIS member countries and officials from the CIS Executive Committee.

Delivering the welcoming address, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev emphasized the strategic importance of fostering interregional partnerships and sustainable business relations built on shared experience and trust. He noted that such cooperation is vital for the long-term development and integration of CIS economies.

Over the past five years, Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover with CIS countries has nearly doubled, exceeding $23 billion by the end of 2024. Currently, more than 5,500 companies with capital from CIS member states operate successfully across Uzbekistan’s regions.

A highlight of the forum was the ceremonial exchange of over 10 interregional cooperation agreements, along with the holding three thematic panel sessions dedicated to economic cooperation, humanitarian engagement, and the role of chambers of commerce in building a unified CIS economic space.

The forum concluded with bilateral B2B and G2B consultations between regional authorities and businesses from participating countries.
