Uchkulach polymetallic deposit

The Uchkulach project in Farish district, Jizzakh region, is being developed by the Turkish company Esan Eczacibasi with Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology. An investment agreement was signed on 1 August 2023 with the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade. The joint venture, Yangi O’zbekiston Mining, was set up for the integrated development of the lead-zinc deposit.

The plan covers a mining and processing complex and a plant for lead-containing products, producing zinc, lead, cadmium, bismuth and silver. Almalyk MMC reports a $200 million allocation, an open-pit mine and a processing plant each handling 500,000 tonnes of polymetallic ore a year, annual output of 5,400 tonnes of zinc concentrate and 18,400 tonnes of lead concentrate, and about 500 new jobs.
