Miahona

Miahona formally launched its cooperation with Uzbekistan in autumn 2024, signing its first agreement on 4 September with the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan together with national partners. This milestone marked the start of the company’s long-term presence in the country and the establishment of Miahona Uzbekistan as a local platform for water resource management aligned with Uzbekistan’s strategic priorities in water security and infrastructure modernisation. The company rapidly established strong partnerships with government institutions and gained recognition for facilitating technology transfer and promoting sustainable models of infrastructure cooperation.

Today, Miahona is actively engaged in the rehabilitation and operation of irrigation networks, provides advisory support for water supply and wastewater treatment projects, and participates in public–private partnership (PPP) dialogues to ensure the sustainable implementation of key initiatives. In November 2025, the company signed additional cooperation agreements with the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan, expanding cooperation on the rehabilitation, replacement, and long-term operation of irrigation pumping stations under a BOOT (Build–Own–Operate–Transfer) model. Within this framework, Miahona is assessing projects covering more than 100 pumping stations in Karakalpakstan and over 200 stations in the Khorezm region.

Miahona makes a significant contribution to the modernization of Uzbekistan’s water infrastructure by introducing solutions based on water reuse, energy efficiency, and digital technologies, while also fostering knowledge exchange and the development of local technical capacity. As noted by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Awaad Al-Otaibi, Miahona’s presence in Uzbekistan forms part of its global strategy to expand expertise in integrated water cycle management and to build long-term partnerships that create shared value.

Miahona’s international leadership has been recognized with four national awards at the World Business Outlook Awards 2025, including distinctions for excellence in water cycle management, leading wastewater treatment solutions, and the delivery of comprehensive, reliable, and sustainable water services. The company remains fully committed to Uzbekistan’s development objectives and views the country as a key partner in shaping a sustainable water future for the region.
